Tour a real CASTLE built of
the grandest collection of
UNIQUE JUNQUE
in the Southwest: 
the sprawling 18-room, three story castle
built from 
stoneadobeautomobile parts, salvaged rail tracks from a minetelephone poles, and more!.
Complete with 
chapelcantina, and a dungeon.

Mystery Castle is located in the city of Phoenix, Arizona, in the foothills of South Mountain Park.
It was built in the 1930s by Boyce Luther Gulley for his daughter Mary Lou Gulley.
After learning he had 
tuberculosis, Gulley moved from Seattle to the Phoenix area and began building the house from found or inexpensive materials. 


The Mystery Castle has been designated as a Phoenix Point of Pride.


Tours & Location

  • The Mystery Castle is located in the Foothills of South Mountain Park (two miles south of Baseline Road).
  • Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 5-12.
  • To visit, take 7th Street South to Mineral Road, then head east and follow the road to the Mystery Castle entrance.
